Tickmill is a Forex and CFD brokerage that is based at various locations around the world, including the United Kingdom, Cyprus, and Seychelles. This review will focus on the United Kingdom version but be aware that there are other offices that you can choose to do business with.

Trading accounts

Tickmill offers several different account types, including the Classic, Pro, VIP, Professional, Islamic, and Demo account. The Classic Account offers the typical type of account that you may be used to, with variable spreads and typical leverage for the region, being 1:30. The Pro Account offers a flexible spread, with a commission of two dollars per side per lot. The VIP account is similar to the Pro Account, with lower commissions but requires a $50,000 minimum balance. The Islamic Account is a swap free account in accordance with Islamic law. Obviously, a Demo Account is simply a practice account.

The company

Tickmill is a fully regulated firm in the United Kingdom through the Financial Conduct Authority, one of the premier regulatory agencies in the world. With offices in both Cyprus and the Seychelles, it is truly a global corporation but you should keep in mind that the UK version is the one we are focusing on here. With being based in the United Kingdom, they also are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, protecting investments of up to 50,000 GBP for individuals.

Trading conditions

Initial deposit

The initial deposit at Tickmill is US$100, making it accessible for everyone. The lone exception of course is the VIP Account, which requires a minimum balance of $50,000. That being said, the average person will have no issues whatsoever in trying to get involved here.

Spreads and conditions

Tickmill offers multiple markets to trade, including Forex, Indices, and Bonds. Spreads can vary greatly depending on whether or not you are using a Classic Account, or one of the others. Most traders will choose to use one of the other accounts but should be aware that the minimum spread on currency pairs and other instruments in the Classic Account starts at 1.6 pips. Some of the other accounts, depending on the conditions at the time of trading, it can offer no spread whatsoever.

Leverage

Leverage at Tickmill goes as high as 1:500, for professional traders. However, retail clients will receive 1:30 leverage, as is common in this part of the world.

Trading platforms

Tickmill uses the well-known MetaTrader ecosystem, using version 4. They also have a web-based version that is starting to pop up everywhere. With these platforms, you should be very comfortable as most traders around the world have used MetaTrader at one point or another.

Payment methods

Tickmill allows several different ways to fund and withdraw. This includes Barclays card, Visa, MasterCard, Skrill, Neteller, Dotpay, PaysafeCard, Bank transfers, and Sofort.

Extras

Tickmill offers a large selection of webinars, seminars, e-books, trading videos, infographics, and educational articles. Beyond that, they also offer one of the most beloved trading tools out there known as Autochartist, which plots technical patterns automatically for you to observe, such as triangles, resistance breaks, and so on.
