Markets.com is a Forex and CFD brokerage with offices in Cyprus. They offer online execution and clearing services for retail investors, with an eye on over 2000 markets. The company is operated by Safecap, and subsidiary of Playtech PLC, part of the London Stock Exchange and FTSE 250.
Trading accounts
Markets.com offers only one type of live account but does of course offer a demo account option. This avoids the complexity of other brokers who offer various tiers of pricing and the like. Markets.com takes the favoritism out of the entire process.
The company
Markets.com is operated by Safecap, a subsidiary of Playtech PLC which is traded on the London Stock Exchange’s Main Market and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index. Because of its public listing, there is a large amount of transparency when it comes to the finances of the firm, allowing more clarity and safety of funds as they are held to a higher standard than most other brokers.
Trading conditions
Initial deposit
The initial deposit at Markets.com is a straightforward 100 unites of USD, GBP, or EUR. This keeps things simple, and within reach of the average investor. By keeping the bar low to entry, you can try the Markets.com trading platform and the like in real-world conditions, with very little at risk.
Spreads and conditions
Markets.com offers multiple markets to trade, including Forex, Metals, Energy, Indices, Soft Commodities, Crypto, Bonds, ETFs and Stocks from a massive list of countries. Because of this, the spreads can vary greatly from one market to another, but the highlights would include a 2 pip spread in the EUR/USD pair, 0.04 in Sugar, 0.60 in the S&P 500 CFD, and a spread of 0.03 in Crude Oil.
Leverage
Leverage at ICM varies depending on the instrument traded obviously. However, the indices are at 1:20, the energy markets are 1:10, and currencies are at 1:30 as a few examples. The leverage in crypto is low, but that is something that we have been seeing across the industry after the massive run up and then run down in those last year.
Trading platforms
Markets.com uses the well-known MetaTrader ecosystem, using version 4. They also offer mobile versions of those as well, and multi terminal trading platforms also. This is a platform that is known by traders around the world, so that obviously is something that is going to be quite familiar for people that have been trading, and easy for beginners.
Payment methods
Markets.com allows a plethora of options for both deposit and withdrawal. These include PayPal, credit card, bank transfer, Skrill, and Neteller. These offer enough opportunities for traders around the world to fund their accounts easily.
Extras
Markets.com offers a bit of research and information for traders, and quite a few webinars as well. This broker tend to focus more on the light side of education, meaning that they have a lot of beginner videos for the platforms, indicators, etc. There isn’t much at all in the way of research, unless you count ‘market consensus’, but truthfully you can find research all over the internet for free anyway.
